Amy was a bridesmaid in one of my previous Louisville weddings. At the end of the night, she and her mom ran up to me and asked if I was available for their October wedding because she wanted to hire me on the spot. I giggled, gave her my business card, and agreed to shoot their big day. We met up a few times between then and the wedding and I got to know Amy and her sweet disposition. She was excited to tell me that they had hired a caricature artist for the reception, because that was Ryan’s only request and that she wanted the day to be as relaxed and as fun as possible.
We started the day downtown at the downtown Embassy Suites where everyone was getting primped and ready for the day. I was able to capture some really fun detail shots and get creative with my tilt-shift lens and unique lighting. It was so fun to play and do something different! After everyone was ready, they hopped on the shuttle over to the Louisville Water Tower where the rest of the wedding day took place. Amy and Ryan read letters they wrote to each other; but since opted out of a first look, they still wanted a few photos together reading their letters. Their ceremony was sweet and simple, and then everyone partied the night away after some awesome speeches and toasts to the bride and groom. I loved getting to be a part of this wedding day. Couples like this one — who are so kind, so carefree, and so in love — are such a treat to know and photograph. Being a part of wedding days is no small task and a responsibility I do not take lightly. There’s a lot of trust that goes into being a wedding photographer! I’m always thankful for the trust that my couples have in me.
