When Becky reached out to me about taking some photos of her and her husband in their 1985 wedding attire, I was immediately ALL IN! I had never gotten to photograph a project like this, and knew it was going to be fun and special. Becky told me that they’ve not had many photos taken throughout the years, but that their 35th wedding anniversary was something she knew she couldn’t pass up to make it special. Their wonderful kids surprised Eddie for Father’s Day with a one-night stay at the “Glamping site” at the Kentucky Castle for their anniversary, so Becky followed through to make it extra-special with a photo session.
It was hot as heck, but we still made some pretty cute photos happen. We started out with some sweet photos of Becky and Eddie wearing matching T-shirts that said “Just married… 35 years ago” and then they changed into their ‘80s wedding attire for the rest of the session. Becky’s dress was EVERYTHING. The poofy sleeves, the hat, the layers of crinoline, and sheer style of her dress was both humorous and captivating. Since my parents also got married in the ‘80s, I loved seeing photos of their wedding in that time and hearing stories from their wedding day. And the Kentucky Castle was the perfect backdrop and location for the whole thing.
Now that I’ve shot a session like this, I’m taking a mental note to be sure and do this when Max and I hit our 35th anniversary mark. It was such a goofy, fun, sweet thing to get to be a part of!
Would you ever consider putting on your wedding clothes again and playing around for some photos? Hit me up if so!!
