I first met Michael and Cori at a previous wedding I photographed. They were so sweet and cute, so when their names popped up on my email, I was stoked. I knew they were bound to make their day fun, exciting, and most importantly, THEM. The day started out at Cori’s parents’ house, just down the road from the venue. The girls gabbed, got glammed, shared stories, and we snapped a few photos. Then I met up with the guys at the venue. Cori and Michael opted not to do a first look, but still wanted to exchange gifts and spend a few moments together. I think it’s always a great idea to get a couple minutes to yourselves, whether or not you see each others’ faces. It can help with pre-wedding jitters, get you excited, and is a part of the day you’ll cherish.
This couple incorporated different parts of themselves into their reception – each table was numbered with coordinating aged photos, a wedding guest dressed up in an Elvis costume and sang “Blue Suede Shoes” to the bride with people dancing all around, Fourth Meal by Taco Bell got delivered at 10:00pm, and the newlyweds escaped to their honeymoon after a glow stick exit.
The rain did not hold off at all on this day, but it didn’t matter. We made the best of it, took photos in the windows of time that it wasn’t raining, and ultimately, ended up getting some really great stuff! I always tell my clients that if it rains on your wedding day, it really isn’t a big deal. Embrace it, because at the end of the day, you’ll be married to your best friend, and that’s what it’s all about!

Sarah
